Tonight’s game against the Rockets is the 2nd in as many nights for the Raptors. Usually that points to a sluggish start, but Bosh sat for most of the 2nd half yesterday and the other starters played limited minutes. Even with late travel last night the team needs to clean up some of the mess we witnessed in the 106 – 90 loss to the Celtics.
With Yao Ming out of action the Rockets boast one of the shorter front courts int he NBA. Bargnani and Bosh need to take advantage of that by getting in deep to finish over the shorter defenders. Trevor Ariza the new addition on the roster for Houston adds to their already athletic group of Forwards. Hedo will struggle to shadow him so I expect to see more of Amir Johnson and Sonny Weems for defensive match ups. The Celtics proved last night that the Raptors are still unable to close out on shooters and tonight will be a different kind of challenge. The Rockets will be relying on their athleticism, since beyond Shane Battier, they don’t have any shooters to spread the floor.
It will be interesting to see how the Raptors bounce back from a game they blew in the 2nd Quarter. The Rockets sans TMac and Yao should be a team that can be beaten on any given night.
Trying out a new feature tonight on the site. I am in attendance at all home games and tonight will be bringing you photos/comments/observations, Live from the ACC. This module will update throughout the game so keep checking back throughout the evening. Another feature is my readers can post comments to the live blog right from the website and all comments that enhance the conversation will be approved. Any feedback on this would be great post game as well as I want to keep things fresh making sure to bring you stuff not seen anywhere else when it comes to Raptor coverage.
