Raptors v/s Sixers Tickets – [Contest]

Each year as a season ticket holder, I pick one game where I give away tickets to a deserving fan. I feel fortunate to take in the game experience and want to make sure that more people get a chance to do the same.

Last year I went with a simple, why do you think you deserve the tickets question. While it got some original and funny responses, I want to change it up. The Raptors fanbase is one of the more passionate ones and seem to have an opinion on just about everything. Here is the deal…

Tell me why you think Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto and remain a Raptor

Well let me break it down for you. I can be funny and witty but why. ill be real with you. why should he stay? He can go to a better team, earn the same amount of money and contend for a championship. whats in it for him here. well he is the face of the franchise. He is the man here and why would he want to give that up. Chris is also a stand up guy and will want to finish what he started. back when he signed his contract he knew the team was moving in the right direction. while the team did struggle we are moving in the right direction. young stars surround him with good pieces locked in. we will be contending but we all know and he knows it takes time. also who said moving will help him earn a championship. here he know the team is getting better and hopefully with a few tweeks the team will take the next step. lastly toronto is is home now. after many years why would he leave this amazing city. everyone loves him and respects him and he notices that. Chris has become not only the face of the franchise but the face of the city.

Chris Bosh is going to stay in Toronto because of the following reasons (in no particular importance):
      a) he has witnessed first hand how our fan base reacts to a player abandoning them
      b) the maximum money he can get from a raptors extension
      c) he wants to be the franchise and the fan favourite which is what he has here in Toronto
      d) he truly loves the city, the fans and the atmosphere
      e) ladies are very fine here
      f) he can continue styling the same and kinda ugly hair without being judged
      g) ball

Thanks for reading and I appreciate your generosity! Here's to me winning this!

P.S – I am a photographer and will make sure to take a lot of photos to share with everyone!

Tell me why you think Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto and remain a Raptor?

Chris Bosh is the best power forward in the Eastern conference period.
He is the face of this franchise and has the right company to join him as of now.
Brian has made it his duty to keep Bosh happy, and I don't think Bosh could find a more professional general manager then Brian. Bosh is loved in Toronto not liked, this is something that he will not find anywhere else as he has spent his rookie days here, this is his team; the Toronto Raptors are Chris Bosh. He is Canada basketball.

    • Jesse

Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto because he is the Toronto Raptors. He is the identity of this team and he is the reason we all stay glued to our tv's every night. Not often do players get a chance to sculpt a franchise from the bottom up which is what Chris has been given the opportunity to do. To abandon his project before it is complete would be a disservice to the work that he has created and poured his blood, sweat and tears into. He knows it is not about him. He knows it is bigger than him, bigger than this city. It can be as big as he wants it to be, all he has to do is sign on the dotted line and we will continue to support him and this franchise no matter what.

      It's quite simple actually;

The city of Toronto hasn't tasted a championship since '93. Way too long of a drought for a city with fans as loyal and as passionate as the ones we have here.

Our chances of regaining immortality in the world of professional sports will decrease with the departure of Chris Bosh, but will surely steadily increase if he re-signs.

Nothing good for the city comes out of an athletic icon of CB's caliber departing to play for another team. Only heartache, and mediocrity on the horizon.

Don't leave Chris Bosh, we want to win a championship, or at least compete for one, and we can't do it without ya.

    • Bernard

Bosh should remain in toronto because he has already established himself as the number one option for the team. Moving on to another team would involve adjusting to the new team, new players, coaches, ownership and so on. Another plus note for him is that he can get the most money if he signs with this team. Toronto is on the rise with management lead by Bryan Colangelo and company, which can only lead to more success and moving on to the second round of the playoffs and higher if he does stay with the team. Also, other teams such as the cavs and celtics are getting closer meaning their glory days are closing. Another note he has already become the scoring leader for the team and that would be giving him the chance to be the only raptor to reach 20,000 pts or more at the end of his career.

      Great that you're doing this!

Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto to finish what he started especially considering all the new pieces that recently came in. If he does decide to stay, he'll be the first Raptor to fully give Toronto his full commitment . Also with BC as GM who'll build around CB for as long as he's here. We as a city love him off.

Bargs is continually showing why we drafted him #1. DD is so promising as a rookie. The bench are all hard workers and the team chemistry is finally starting to show.

With all this talk of 2010 free agency, Bosh isn't going to find a time where he's guaranteed to be the #1 star all by himself. We've all heard of stars clashing and even though CB doesn't seem like the type, you never know. I had my doubts that Chris was franchise material in the first few years that he was here. However he's grown into a great leader on and off the court, I'd hate to see him go.

Chris Bosh WILL remain a raptor (not SHOULD) easily for the following reasons:
$$$: Toronto can offer him more money if he resigns, with the CBA negotiations going on, and an expected decrease in salaries, Bosh will easily take the max here to get as much money as possible in a struggling economy.

Being a franchise player: even if Bosh chooses to get a sign-and-trade or leave via free agency, he will have to play second-fiddle to another star to contend, or play for a team not as good as the Raptors, something he clearly won't do. The Raptors have the correct pieces to build around Bosh, our core is relatively young and we can be a playoff team for years to come, and if BC makes some tweaks to replace our offensive powers (e.g. Calderon) into defensive assets, we might even be considered a championship sooner or later.

Canada: When playing as a franchise player in this city, you don't represent only Toronto, but all of Canada as a basketball icon, Bosh loves the spotlight, and he has it in all of Canada, he won't receive as much attention in the USA, and will be just "another all-star" there. He won't be receiving as much attention as LeBron James or Dwayne Wade or Kobe Bryant if he ends up in the USA, and will lose all attention in the Canadian media.
Therefore, All of Canada knowing and loving you > One city of America maybe loving you.

After years of watching those Fido commercials in between them Raptor games, I have concluded to one thing: Bosh is the Raptor's Fido! No other NBA player looks like their team's mascot. Heck, if anything he should be our mascot, he can pump up the crowd no one anyone else and never seems to lose his energy. But he's still lacking one thing, the disco dance moves which I'm sure Andrea can teach him in the offseason.

Chris Bosh… The name we've been hearing about endlessly for the better part of the past year as NBA fans. So much speculation has been spread around regarding his destination after the 2010 season, but for several reasons, I believe a Raptor he shall remain.
First and foremost, Toronto is the only NBA team he has played on. This may not mean much to the Americans, or their Toronto-ignoring media, but to us Torontonians, we know he has a soft spot for the city, and especially for the fans of this great metropolitan city.

Another reason we can't ignore his loyalty to the city is the fact that he is the leader of this great franchise. Not since the Vince Carter days have we had a perennial all-star represent Toronto, this guy is the very face of the Raptors squad. He put a lot of work in the past off-season, developing his body so that he can become more of an inside threat (rebounder/defender). These are two key aspects of the game that the Raptors sorely need, and it may be ignorant to say so, but in my eyes, he toned his body mainly for the benefit of his team.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, Chris Bosh wants to prove all the doubters wrong. For the majority of this season, he's been bombarded with questions left, right and center speculating his whereabouts after what many analysts believe, will be a failure of a season. Ever since the off-season we've heard countless Basketball "guru's" (i.e. Chris Webber) predicting the Raptors not even worthy of a playoff spot, let alone any playoff success, despite Bryan Colangelo's excellent attempt to create a deep, balanced roster. What would be sweeter than Chris Bosh leading our beloved team over one of the top 4 in the first round? This would officially establish the Raptors as a playoff-threat and speculation would be halted once and for all.

As immense Raptor fans, we cannot fathom our team without Chris Bosh. He is our best-player, our best mentor and the identity of the sole Canadian team remaining in the N.B.A. All of the skeptics will be swallowing their tongues come playoff time as the raptors hope to win their first playoff series in nearly a decade- a feat which will inevitably instill a positive outlook in Chris Bosh' eyes over the duration of his next contract.

In conclusion, there are many reasons why CB4 should remain a Raptor. The most important one being his love for the fans and the city, and the admiration and respect he collects in return from all of us living in Canada. So Chris, it is time to move out of that condo, and settle into a larger estate since you will be living and playing the best years of your life with the team that drafted you not so long ago.

chris bosh should stay in toronto because this is where he started his career… us fans have been supporting him ever since day one! we've been there with him through all the ups and downs just like he has been there with us!! many players talks about wanting to win and wanting to be on a winning team, but wont it be better knowing that you actually turned a franchise from being one of the bottom teams into a contender?? and since the raptors have been playing well recently and the front office have shown they are trying their best to surround CB with talents, its time for CB to commit to winning and stay in toronto.. since this team is built around him with him as the center piece… but after saying all these points i gotta confess… for me, the main reason why i think CB should stay in toronto is that we love our franchise player and want him to stay here… i think after the VC incident, this city's fan base cant take anymore of our star player leaving…

Bosh should stay in toronto beacuse…..
-stone cold steve austin said so
-mr t pitty the foo the leaves toronto to be a second banana
-to keep harry palmer away from realgm (bargnani is not a number 1 option and if bosh leaves fans will no doubt attack him for this.
-to spite the miami newspapers and espn who always say bosh garunteed leaving
-to let colangelo finish what he started
-to prevent the worlds biggest orgasm by litte_ozzy (imagine all the posts he can lock if bosh leaves)
-to keep jose calderon relevant (who is he gonna pass to if bosh leaves?)
-so leafs can lose to raptors in a sportsnet poll again ( imagine all the fans that stop watching when raptors suck again)
-so bosh has enough money for child support ( hows he gonna support his baby mama with $30 million less)

disclaimer: little_ozzy is one of my favourite mods, makes realgm much more readable

chris bosh likes being the top dawg. and he'd rather face the devil he knows vs the devil he doesn't. CB4 can and would become an iconic legend in toronto surpassing he who shall not be named. but really his situation is very good in toronto. he has friends and is growing with the team and personnel. p.s. he likes basketball and toronto, therefore toronto raptors will be his destination.

If Chris Bosh is being honest about liking/loving the city, then what is left to think about? its time to sign a deal.
Other reasons why Bosh should stay: Toronto can offer the most money so if that is on his list of reasons to stay, then its time to sign a deal winning: the team had a rough start (tough schedule early in the season?) but have turned it around and has shown growth, so why go to another team and possibly start over? Bosh has something here, he is the man (maybe thats important to him, maybe not),

these are some of the reasons for Chris Bosh to stay.

    • Ajay

Bosh should stay in Toronto because there is no place like home. Plus, with the way our team is starting to come along, how can you leave… its starting to become a family.

Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto because the future is bright here. Management has built a great core which revolves around Bosh. He is the cornerstone of the franchise which will be a championship contender in the next few years. At best, Bosh will only be a second option on any other contender.

      Bosh should remain because
      - Raptor fans love him
      - He’s the man here
      - BC loves him and will keep building the team around him
      - He will get the most money here
      - And the number 1 reason is that he doesn’t want to end up singing “where do broken hearts go” if he leaves:0

      Where do broken hearts go
Can they find their way home
      Back to the open arms
Of a love that’s waiting there
      And if somebody loves you
      Won’t they always love you
      I look in your eyes
And I know that you still care, for me

    • Isaac

Chris Bosh should remain a Raptor because not only will he have the opportunity to be 'the man' on a rapidly improving team and maximize his dollars, but he also can really grab this city by the horns and be one the most beloved athletes in Toronto sports history. No other Toronto athlete in the market right now has the 'star' power Bosh has, and he can take basketball in this city to new heights, and really help grow the game here. It would be a really solid legacy to leave behind when he retires.

The 6"10 Power Forward Dallas Native has become the definition of a Franchise Player. He has been always been a "First-Class Individual" on and off the court, especially being the face of the Toronto Raptors and elite face amongst all Toronto Franchises. Many fans by default will associate Vince Carter with the Raptors with the highlightreels, magazine, Nike commercials, spotlight on national television, but CB4 will always come to mind when discussing heart and passion! Grunwald had put together players around his core assets (Carter/Davis/Williams) and with the 2nd facelift in Colangelo's supervision, sky's the limit with the development of (Bargnani/Jack/DeMar/Amir) that there is something special with this group. Bosh is aware that the grass isn't always greener on the otherside of the train tracks. He has never asked for the spotlight, the glory, the fame and earned every inch of respect he deserves by putting everything onto the court regardless of the outcome, for the fans, the team and the passion of the game! CB4, you are and will always be the face of the Raptors! Let's do something special and bring a Championship north of the border!!
