Raptors v/s Sixers Tickets – [Contest]

Each year as a season ticket holder, I pick one game where I give away tickets to a deserving fan. I feel fortunate to take in the game experience and want to make sure that more people get a chance to do the same.

Last year I went with a simple, why do you think you deserve the tickets question. While it got some original and funny responses, I want to change it up. The Raptors fanbase is one of the more passionate ones and seem to have an opinion on just about everything. Here is the deal…

Tell me why you think Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto and remain a Raptor

If Chris Bosh were to stay a Raptor, he would continue to put up spectacular numbers and could possible be the first Raptor to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Look at all the great players that have stayed with one team:

      Past Players:
MJ – Bulls (Prior to his second comeback with the Wiz)
      Larry Bird – Boston
      David Robinson – Spurs
      John Stockton – Jazz
      Isiah Thomas – Pistons

      Current Players:
      Tim Duncan – Spurs
      Paul Peirce – Celtics
      Kobe Bryant – LA

Also, watching Allen Iverson returning to the Sixers is another reason why CB4 should remain a raptor. AI played on a couple teams before realizing that Philly was his home. They’re the city that drafted him and gave him his chance. His return was really special because it felt like a long lost child being reunited with his family. The reason I bring this up is because if Chris stays, we can continue to be a happy family here in Toronto.

LASTLY, IF CHRIS BOSH WERE TO REMAIN A RAPTOR, HE COULD HAVE WHAT CARTER COULD’VE HAD…..THE COUNTRY OF CANADA!!!

      Thanks for this!

The Raptors and Canadian basketball are slowly to become relevant again in Toronto (considering, Leafs have done nothing lately, TFC still growing up, Argos are dismal, and the Jays will be worse than ever.) This is all because of CB4.
CB nowadays has grown into a beast. This is the same kid that look like a confused frail little boy when he first came out. Now, the opposition is just praying to find a way to stop him.

With all this talk about 2010, where else will Bosh find another city like Toronto? Sure, our weather isn't the greatest, but Bosh is absolutely a celebrity in Canada. He's got not only Toronto but pretty much Canada standing behind him. Our team has continually improved over the course of this season and if Bosh says, we'll only get better. BC is determined to keep him around and will do everything to get him the players for CB's team.

Bosh watched VC leave on terrible terms and yet he was also the same guy to make VC say "MVP oh please" back in the day. Bosh isn't going to find a better in the free agency even with the possibility of a DWade/Bosh/JJ/LeBron pairing.

Bosh is a true Raptor in every way. Quickly and deadly for their size.
If in the end he decides to leave,

      All I can say is,

      Oh my Bosh.

      1. The city of Toronto loves him.
Chris Bosh has the whole city supporting him, as he has been developing his fan base since he was a rookie here. He has a chance to do something special, in the age where players move around so much that there are only few real franchise players. Chris Bosh is supported around the City, and he has a real good chance of being the best basketball player the city has ever had. He should build his legacy here instead of joining another superstar. Jordan still has his shoe line pumping out expensive shoes, but what does Pippen have? Sure, you can get some national recognition by joining another super star and start winning championships alongside lebron and wade, but in a long run the world forgets about faithful Robin, they only remember Batman. Even if he goes to New York or New Jersey with out a big name, their situation and status of building a good team is no where near where Toronto is. Fans love Bosh here as the Batman of Toronto, why leave and mess up something great.

      2. Bryan Colangelo.
Bryan Colangelo will surround Chris Bosh with the right core of the players to compete with. Sure he doesn't have a championship ring around his finger, but he is one of the best GM's in the league. Even the best GM's need alot of luck to win championships, but all the other factors that contributes to having a good team can be addressed by Colangelo. He has already surround bosh with good young players, and if Bosh works with Colangelo for few more years, I think they can bring the trophy to Toronto.

      3. Cash
By staying in Toronto, Bosh can make more money.(Everyone Knows this so I won't go into details). He can complain about not having any national commercials with Nike's and McdDonald's and etc, but if he continues his play now into the playoffs, and lead his team to at least the eastern conference finals, he will be in those commercials.

      4. Weather
What's not to like about weather in Toronto? ;)

When Toronto was really bad and Babcock was the GM of that mess, I really wanted Bosh to leave and be on a team that can support his talent, but since BC's arrival, I think the stupidest thing CB4 can do is leave what he has built here for someone else to take his place. He has a chance to win and get recognized in the city of Toronto, and he shouldn't throw away something special like that.

I think Chris should and will remain a Raptors because, unlike what some media outlets think, Toronto is a great city.
Apart from being able to offer Bosh the most money, he's in a world-class city with a loyal fanbase and powerful owners on a team with friends and in a city in which he has settled. Sure, the weather isn't great, but its in no way worse than it would be for him if he were on the Bulls. We get a bad rap thanks to ignorant stereotypes. Not only that, but with Halladay gone, he's by far the most prominent athlete in Toronto.

Besides, not many team captains look like their teams logo!

    • Carlo

(My original comment was too long so i had to split it in 2 parts. This was the first part.)
Chris Bosh WILL remain as a raptor for the following reasons:__1) Jarret Jack – Rarely do you get to play with someone on your team who is acually a FRIEND. He's a pretty good point guard too. Locked up for the next 4 years2) Andrea Bargnani- His improvement as a player, I think will weighs on Bosh's decision more than alot of people think. He gives Bosh enough space in the paint to operate, has a great shot and his progression as of late looks positive for the future. Locked up for 5 years

    • Carlo

Now why he will stay for other reason:
1)We wil offer him Max Contract. Thats 30mil more than any other team in the NBA. I would't leave 30mil on the table.
      2) Bryan Colangelo – The BEST GM in the game. Rarely do you get a GM especially in Toronto sports, that'll dismantle a team for you and surrond you with players that make the team and YOU better. He's the man!!!!! without a leader like him we wouldnt be in the position that we are in today.
      3) First Class oraganization- MLSE is one of the top notched sports organizations in all sports categories. And they will go into the luxury tax to stay competitive and keep bosh.
4)TDOT- The BEST city in they world, also best FANS in the world in everysport you cant even question it!!!!!
5)He is not only the face of Toronto basketball but along with STEVE NASH the face of CANADIAN BASKETBALL. He has an entire country behind him. We would you want to leave.
Those are just a FEW reason. lol I'll see you guys at the game

    • Christina

There are many reasons for Chris to stay in Toronto. For him – (1) the Raps can pay him the most; (2) he has an entire country cheering for him and his team, as opposed to a single city; (3) management is willing to spend the money and pay the tax to build around him; (4) the team is finally beginning to come together. For the fans – it would break our hearts to have another superstar want out. It feels good to have a genuinely nice guy playing hard for this team every night. Bosh has been a beast this season and he deserves all the accolades, the big contract and all the appreciation from the fans.

    • A. V. R.

He'd make all of us vely beeg heppy.

    • Brian

I've written my reasons out in haiku:

This is his city/The present and the future/Pay him max dollars.

He is the franchise/He knows it and so do they/BC gets it done.

In sleet, rain or snow/Weather is not a factor/Suck it, Miami.

    • king

Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto just for the simple fact that he will be staying in the city that will love him and be there for him through all the ups and downs… also the fact that he will be making $30 mil more!!!!

i know the chance of me winning the tickets with this short opinion is highly unlikely so i just wanna say congrats on here to the lucky poster that will be getting the tickets!!!! u get to watch reggie evens in action for the first time during a regular season game!!! and also to the person holdng this contest, this a such a nice gesture of you to be giving away tickets to us raptor fans…
      RAPTORS FTW!!!!

Lastly, the raptors have shown evident improvement this season. Bosh has improved in so many areas and the chances of the raptors making a run in the playoffs has never looked so likely. This team has moulded themselves into a competitive team and a threat in the east. Chris bosh wants to win and he is doing that while carrying this team on his shoulder. Bosh staying in Toronto would allow this team to keep winning and remain successful. He deserves nothing but the best because of all his hard work and only a city that loves him as much as we do can give him that.

    • Joanne

Bryan Colangelo did an amazing job by adding so many quality pieces to this team during the past off-season. He essentially built around Chris, adding priceless players into the rotation to aid in the arduous quest for Eastern Conference dominance. This was a very intelligent move which will definitely make Bosh think twice before leaving the Toronto Raptors. From the acquisition of the battle-ready Reggie Evans, to the addition of quality wing players, our roster was completely revamped during the off-season. None more important perhaps than our (now starting) point guard, Jarret Jack. Chris has great chemistry with his former teammate, he clearly respects him greatly, and they play great together. I was always a fan of Jarret Jack, and was hoping that he would land in Toronto long ago for Chris' sake. Better late than never, I suppose.

Another reason why he should stay is because Torontonians simply adore the guy. The nickname Air Canada was given to a player, but we all know very well that Chris Bosh IS Air Canada. Through the struggles that raptor fans had to witness for this team, they have always given bosh the support and loyalty that he deserves. HE IS this city’s MVP. The moment bosh steps onto that court and plays a game it brings excitement and great joy to the fans. The screaming and cheering of fans shows bosh how much this city loves him and how much it would mean for bosh to stay with a team that has come a long way.
A reason I don't like to think about, but is inevitably in Bosh's mind is that he will receive more money. Chris bosh being offered a maximum contract shows that keeping him a part of this franchise is their first and top priority, which shows how vital he is to this team's success.

Through the struggles that the Raptors have endured over the past decade to the success they’ve had this year, Chris Bosh has been the face of this franchise. He has held his head high and carried this team like the all-star that he is.
There is a plethora of reasons why Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto. He has proven himself to be one of the NBA’s biggest stars. From his improved mid-range jump shots to the surprising blocks he can create (and the noticeable weight and muscle he put on over the summer), he has moulded himself into the NBA star that the raptors have always felt he would become ever since he was drafted. His impact all over this great country is impossible to ignore, and, will only be more glorious in the years to come.

I don't think the question is "Why SHOULD Chris Bosh stay in Toronto", but rather "Why WILL Chris Bosh stay in Toronto". The reason why this is the appropriate question to ask is simple:

Theories which are believed in tend to become true.

(Thanks for the opportunity, it's much appreciated!)

    • Vishal

First of all, it's amazing you are doing this and I thank you personally. Just the thought of sitting so close to the court is a thrill all on its own. Now to answer your question on why Christopher Wesson Bosh should stay in Toronto and remain a Raptor.

      (1) He is the man, the face, the franchise. If he decides to go play with Lebron and be second fiddle, then that's up to him. But, in Toronto, he has a chance to be an icon. One day, you will see a Chris Bosh Statue outside of the ACC. He will be a legend in Toronto Raptors history and in Canadian basketball.

      (2) Toronto has a young and promising core. Expect Demar to become an Allstar in year 3. That's when the Raptors are going to be extremely dangerous. With a lineup of Jack/Demar/Hedo/Bosh/Bargs with developing chemistry, this team could very well be top contender year in and year out. A growing Amir Johnson, Sonny Weems, and Bellineli only adds to the excitement.

      (3) He has all of Canada behind him. And with his business passion, he can expand and grow his business greatly after he retires from basketball.

      (4) He has BC as the GM. A man who will do whatever it takes to win and put the best possible team out there. No need to worry if things aren't working out, BC will fix it.

      (5) Comfort in a city he's spent his entire career. He knows the city and the fans. Not many players spend an entire career with one team. If you stick with one team, and reach the ultimate goal of a championship. It just makes it that much sweeter. Never leave a puzzle unfinished. If he sticks with this team, he will be rewarded for it greatly.

Thanks again for the kind gesture.

      Regards,

      Vishal

Sorry for the double post…I thought my post got deleted.

    • Huzaifa

It won't be an easy decision but the following reasons will overcome his temptation to greener pastures.
      1) In what will be his career's largest contract (both financially and length wise) Bosh a financially prudent individual will not leave behind the $8+ million he would gain by signing a MAX deal with Toronto.
      2) Bosh has embraced the multicultural mega city of Toronto, in which he is one if not the biggest ticket in the city. Unlike other superstars Bosh isn't one to hog for the national American spotlight but yet loves the limited attention he gets in Toronto.
      3) Jarrett Jack & Co.: Colangelo's biggest move last summer was getting one of Bosh's closest friend, and it is clearly seen on the court as well as off the court how close they are to one another (they go for dinner and clubbing together a lot). He is in comfort zone with all his other teammates and feels that right now the sky is the limit.
      4) Pride: Wade won in Miami, Lebron has a good chance to win in Cleveland. Bosh like any superstar wants to finish what he started, and that is LEAD this team to a Championship, something the team is getting close to achieve. He doesn't want to do it with Lebron or Wade, he feels he can lead the team to the promise land.

So to the American media who are writing of Toronto's chance to retain him, unlike those who have left us in the past, Bosh is going to give the city the one thing they have craved for, A CHAMPIONSHIP!

    • Victoria

I think what you are doing for the Raptor fans in Toronto is amazing, Nat! God bless you!

I believe Chris Bosh should remain a Raptor because, quite frankly, he is face of the franchise. He was born (entered the NBA as) a Raptor, and will die (retire) a Raptor. Game in and game out, he puts his heart and soul into playing for our team. He genuinely cares about winning in Toronto, and he believes that if there is somebody who is going to lead us far in the postseason, it's him. It wouldn't be fair for anyone to take that dream away from him. He loves Toronto. Throughout his many seasons in the NBA, he has developed into the type of player that can handle and thrive from the attention of our rabid fanbase. We need him as much as he needs us. He's not going anywhere. Besides, it would look downright stupid to see another player wear #4 for Toronto.

    • Aaron

Bosh should remain a Raptor because he offers something that many players lack. He displays leadership qualties in which the Toronto Raptors lack and has the heart of a warrior. He's sacrificed his body for us time and time again and we as fans owe him a winning team. With him on our side we could produce a winner and in time give him the ultimate goal of winning the title. Chris Bosh is a key piece to the puzzle and with Triano as a coach, Colangelo as the Gm we have a solid managerial unit that will compete with the best in the league. Everything is a process and watching Bosh grow as a skinny kid from Georgia Tech to the force that he is today is nothing short of remarkable. Chris Bosh should stay in Toronto because the best is yet to come and with him on our side we will continue to grow and continue to win. The will and talent he displays is infectious and if he stays he will continue to grow and win in a city that embraces him with all their heart.
