We waited one full summer. A summer that brought in nine new faces. One teenage rookie with

loads of talent. One highly coveted free agent with NBA finals experience. A coach that

preached Defense more than any coach in recent years. An improved Andrea Bargnani, ready to

play the center position. And ofcourse a bulked up and motivated Chris Bosh. The time was here,

October 28th 2009. Walking into the stadium you could feel the energy in the building. The

'lets go raptors' chants were almost surreal with the amount of die hard Raptor fans in the

building. Everyone was anxious to see if the Raptors organization was ready to take the next

step. With the opening tip from Greg Willard, Andrea Bargnani took Varajeo basline for a

thunderous slam that brought the crowd into a frenzy. Soon after, Demar Derozan, the talented

young rookie began knocking down mid-range jumpshots proving that on this day the Raptors were

invincable. The Raptors opened up a huge lead going into the half. The crowd was louder than

ever. As the third quarter began, Lebron James took over, scoring a multitude of points in a

variety of ways cutting the deficit and bringing Raptor fans back to Earth. This was a time

where the Raptors would need to show their new found poise with a new coaching staff and a

stronger group of players. With the crowd chanting Defense at the top of their lungs that

Raptors got behind their fans and did just that. For the first time in a long while the Raptors

showed the ability to get stops down the stretch, making the building louder. And just when you

thought it was over, Jose Caldeon made a layup plus the foul against Lebron James and literally

blew the roof off the building. This was my greatest moment ever. I receieved the ticket as a

present from my brother and i always thank him for providing me with the greatest moment in my

life. Just the atmosphere in the building and expectation that that moment gave to me as a fan

is something that will have ever happen again. Thanks for letting me share my moment. Rizwan

Bizarrely my favourite Raptors memory of the year was a loss. My girlfriend and I came down from Guelph to watch the Cavs play when we pushed them to overtime. But somehow we had forgotten our upper bowl tickets back in guelph. My girlfriend had never been to a raptors game, and she still officially hasn't because we stood out front of the ACC looking up at the big screen and watched the game from there. Not the most romantic, but we had street meat and brown bagged a few beers and it was an amazing Raptors experience.

My favorite raptors moment of the 2009/2010 Season…..

Has to be the big W over the Lakers…. that was probably the most EPIC game I have ever been to or seen in person PERIOD! The energy in that stadium when Turks made the game winning drive and then When Kobe missed that final shot was Amazing! By far the most memorable moment, probably in my life, with regards to any sporting event.

      Heres my actual entry..

My favourite moment of the raptors 2010-2011 season has to be when Andrea Bargnani posterized Chris Anderson. Why you ask? In 5 seconds it gave the city of toronto a highlight that wasn't CB4, showed the US and all the Bargnani haters that he can finish with contact, and made me scream (1st time I've done that watching tv!).

      Watch it here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBzVPXxV8UY

This play alone let me know Bargnani was HANDS DOWN the right move for us, got the feeling Bargnani isn't a bust and just from this play alone he was rewarded with the 5 year extension! (not really but hey). This is truly the #1 moment of the season and I hope to see many more of these in the next 5 years :)

I'm not trying to make this a sob sorry or anything but I have never been to Raptors game and this could be my final chance to see some of our players in a Raps uniform! (Calderon/Hedo?/Bosh?[from the sidelines!]).

Honorable mentions: beating the lakers and the 1st game of the season beating the cavs!

      • Mike Gray

Also, if I am selected I will definitely be able to go, but I will be busy so I won't be able to respond until midnightish, but I definitely would be going so don't worry.

Fav moment: Big win against the lakers

    • William Chau

I would have to say when Amir Johnson got his first start against the Knicks (what a coincidence) in March. I was a huge fan of Amir's play all year long and to finally see him start (even if it was for the injured Bosh at the time.) Amir has been one of the most consistent Raps this season and it was such an exciting game too!

Big ups to another great contest! Would be great to watch another Raps game!

    • Alex Bogach

Favourite moment from 09/10 season: I was sitting up in the Sprite Zone on December 30th as the Raptors were looking to go into the new year with a 5 game winning streak. The building had a playoff feel. Stephen Jackson, a notorious Raptor killer, was torching the Raps' D all night going off for 30. The Raptors and Bob…cats traded buckets late in the game battling for the lead. With the Raps leading by one, Antoine Wright pounced on a loose ball calling a timeout electrifying the crowd.

On the next offensive possession, Bosh began to backdown Gerald Wallace
      with the shot clock ticking down. 5, 4, 3…I couldn't watch…the
crowd was holding its collective breath. Bosh made his move, moving
towards the key…kicking it out to Bargs on the three point line. 3,
      2…Bargs launchs a three…NAILS IT! Th…e crowd jumps to its feet. I
can never forget Andrea thumping his chest, galloping down towards his
bench down the ACC floor. The Raps capped off the homestand with a big
win against a conference rival. What a game–an intense tug of war
matchup. One of those moments that made me happy to be a basketball fan
      in Toronto.

Favourite moment from the 09/10 season is during the 1st game of the season. Bargnani was dominating, and had already posted up Lebron and taken it to the hole for a hook shot. Later in the game he came down, he backed Lebron down a few steps, turnaround shot fake (lebron bites), and went for the up and under. It basically told me that Andrea would take over this season. Of course that hasn't happend yet, Andrea kind of looks like he's coasting at times, but with the right motivation he can still get there. Also glad he put Lebron in his place. I'm not a bipolar bandwagon fan, I've been here during the ups and the downs!!! Raps fans unite, this is the time to stick behind your team!! PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME!!

    • Eugene R

Favourite memory of the season has to be JJ tying his shoes while the bulls defense looks at each other in confusion. AHAHAAAHAAH! Hopefully we will see more of the same tomorrow night so the Raps can give the Cavs a run for their money!

    • Jason

My favourite moment of the 2009-2010 season was when Matt Devlin started saying "Let's NBA" to start off games and Leo seemed so confused. My least favourite was when he stopped.

    • Aly H.

My fav memory had to be Reggie Evans' return to the Raptor lineup vs. Philly. The energy was amazing! Before he even entered the game the fans were chanting "REGGIE!! REGGIE!! REGGIE!!". He hadn't even played one min of the regular season before this. He went through such a grueling recovery to come back to the lineup. I think every fan could appreciate the hard work he put into his rehab. So when he entered the game and put his heart and soul on display for "5 Minutes of FURY!" the fans let him know that it's not just about putting points up it's about giving everything you've got!

My favourite memory of the season is against the game against the Washington Wizards. The raptors had gotten blown out against Atlanta, and held a team meeting during the afternoon of the game and came out and played hard, when Hedo made that jumper with shot clock expring in OT I jumped up in my house and watched the guys on the bench go crazy. it was a fitting end to the game and the players backed up what was said in the meeting in the game. It turned the season around at that time.

    • Adam

The best moment this season is the 4th quarter in the game at home vs the Lakers. That moment with Kobe taking the shot seemed like an eternity but the aftermath of the miss was awesome. The entire ACC was buzzing as the crowd exited the building.

My favorite moment of the season had to be Bosh's game-winner against the Hawks.

Raps up big early & let it slip away, but played with real grit & determination to come back against one of the best teams in the east. The crowd was going crazy when Hedo was sent to the line with a few seconds left, then with Amir hustling for the offensive board off his miss & getting them another look, then Bosh taking advantage of that opportunity, it was truly a great moment.

I've been to a bunch of real stinkers this year & for the last few years, but the great moments like that make it all worth it!

    • John Callaghan

My favourite moment of this season is easy: The big win against the Lakers. Yes, it was a great game and a great win. But that isn't it. After 15 years of being a huge Raps fan, I finally had the chance to take my son to his first game. He was only 2 1/2 years old at the time, but he loved every minute of it. Usually he can't sit still for more than 10 minutes, but he sat there in his mini CB4 jersey, frozen in his seat, taking it all in.

I even taught him the D-fense! chant.

It was a moment that I had looked forward to for years. I bought him that Bosh jersey when he was still in my wife's belly. And the afternoon couldn't have been more perfect. He was amazed by the action, entertained by the sights and sounds and he laughed like crazy at the Raptor.

That night, he wore his Bosh jersey to bed.

To this day, he still talks about it. He's a full blown Raptors fan. He runs around the house yelling "Ball! Ball!". I figure he'll be a point guard. Pass first.

Not just the best memory of the season. One of the best memories of my life.

The Toronto Raptors are G, they might under perform some nights, they might not live up to expectations, they might get cheated out of a playoff spot, but in the end we definitely have guys on our team that want to do well, that show heart, emotions, that will carry a team if need be, but always remember they are representing our Country, and keeping them competitive…there hasn't been ONE particular memorable moment this year, however watching these guys grow into stars, playing on an elite level before the all star break, proving David Stern, Mike Brown and Lebron James wrong when they show up ready to play in a few weeks in Game 1. But the fact that we have been relatively Competitive this year has been the highlight of the 09/10 season, we can't handle another losing season without playoff ball. The Raptors making the Playoffs will be G!

kevin23@yorku.ca [don't know if this contest is still going, but it doesn't hurt picking a student who rarely has time to go to live games, but lucky me, university is almost over, and I'll be able to make it to the last game of the season :) ]

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/illest23 illest23

Golden = watching our golden boy Chris Bosh abuse other big mans, posting continuous double-doubles, monster stat lines to prove the NBA wrong about the raptors and their SOFT image

Glorious = Teams we havent been able to beat in the past couple years: mavs, spurs, lakers, cavs…teams considered 'elite': magic, hawks…taking the best teams to the brink of defeat: nuggets, lakers again have all seen first hand, the raptors can play with ANYONE when their ready.

What is G? It is the Heart, Hustle, Soul of the Game = Watching the emotions when the raptors suffer a heartbreaking lost, feeling for the country when the raptors underachieve, constantly being bullied by the refs & head office because we're a Canadian Team, Grinding out wins to be in a playoff position so late in the season…

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/illest23 illest23

      Whats G?
It's the emblem of a warrior = chris bosh has been our warrior by representing ALL of Canada, putting this team on his back, willing us to victories

Its the swagga of athletes = the swagga bosh and jarret jack played with all season, these two have shown the most heart this season, their intensity is on a completely different level than the rest of the raptors.

The champion..& the dynasty = the day the raptors outplayed the greatest dynasty in the NBA. Without a doubt, the Lakers have been the most dominant sports team in the NBA, and watching our raptors defeat them infront of us in Toronto, will definitely go down as the biggest post-Carter win.

It's gifted = Being blessed to have a Canadian team, full of players who are playing for our country with pride, although the rest of the league has been against the country, these players play for the name on their jersey, not the name on the back

Genious = The amount of work Sonny Weems has put into his game has definitely shown, he does not want to be another bench player that fades away overtime, he is slowly making his case to be a solid starter
